World of Warcraft Delves Calculator & Loot Tools
Use the Delves Loot Calculator to balance expected value (EV), gold per hour (GPH), and weekly Great Vault thresholds. This page explains how tiers, travel time, and chest mix interact.

Best WoW Delves Tiers & Season Thresholds (2024-2025)
Each season defines weekly Vault thresholds by chests opened. Fast routes in mid tiers (e.g., T6–T8) often beat slower high tiers when your objective is to hit the threshold quickly.
Season thresholds overview
Our calculator ships with weekly thresholds and lets you simulate how many sessions you need, given your chests/hour. See the guide for historical values and the reasoning behind the current defaults.
Recommended play goals
- Hit vault threshold first; then chase peak EV/chest if time remains.
- Prefer consistent routes you can sustain for 30–60 minutes without travel/queue downtime.
Why mid tiers can win
Mid tiers typically have shorter traversal and safer rooms. While EV/chest may be slightly lower, EV × chests/hour (i.e., GPH) can be higher, yielding better weekly outcomes.
Example: Quick threshold strategy
If T7 yields 6.0 chests/hour and T8 yields 5.1, a 30-chest target is ~5h at T7 versus ~5.9h at T8, even when T8 drops slightly better per chest.

EV vs GPH: Time Efficiency for WoW Delves
EV measures value per chest; GPH measures EV per hour. If travel and room pacing slow you down, GPH tanks—no matter how great each chest looks on paper.
EV per chest
EV aggregates drop tables across item levels, weights, and chances. We normalize values and let you override assumptions when new hotfixes ship. See the guide's methodology section for detailed formulas.
Time per run & chests/hour
Chests/hour is the real KPI. Even a small travel-time reduction compounds over dozens of rooms. Benchmark your route, then simulate different tier choices in the calculator to find the sweet spot for your schedule.
GPH vs travel time
When travel time per room drops from 90s → 70s, the same EV/map can jump GPH by 15–25% depending on your mix. Use the methodology block at the bottom of the calculator to audit our math and plug your own timings.
What if EV/chest ties?
Choose the route with the higher runs/hour. Over a week, that converts into more vault progress and steadier income.
Example: T6 vs T7
If T6 and T7 are within ~3% EV/chest, but T6 is 10–12% faster in rooms/hour, T6 usually wins for GPH and threshold time.

Methodology: Drop Rate, Independent Rolls & Union Probability
Our math mirrors common RNG models used by the community. Rolls inside a chest are treated as independent rolls unless the source specifies otherwise. For "at least one" events across many chests, we use union probability.
Assumptions & data sources
- Seasonal thresholds and tier EV ranges from patch notes & community testing.
- Travel time and room pacing are user inputs—benchmark your route to get accurate GPH.
- Weekly vault progress modeled as chest counts; calculator shows time-to-threshold.
Formula notes
EV (per chest) = Σ(item value × drop chance)
GPH = EV × chests/hour
P(any) = 1 − (1 − p)^n (for n chests at per-chest chance p)
Cross-game consistency
The exact same toolkit powers OSRS Barrows and Diablo 4 Helltide. Once you grasp EV vs GPH, optimization transfers across games.
Example A: Quick P(any) check
At p = 6% per chest and n = 25 chests, P(any) ≈ 1 − 0.94^25 ≈ 77%. The calculator shows this under methodology examples.
Example B: GPH tie-breaker
Two tiers have near-equal EV/chest; pick the one with better chests/hour—the weekly vault will thank you.

How accurate are these numbers?
The model is reproducible and adjustable. Use the calculator's assumptions block to audit and tweak values when hotfixes land.
What tier should I pick for weekly vault?
The tier that reaches the chest threshold the fastest for your route. Start mid tiers, measure, then compare with a higher tier.
